It’s more than ironic a week after the Government announces it want to end lifetime tenancies it then announces it wants to build Lifetime Homes.
Health Secretary Andrew Landsley has unveiled the Government’s new health white paper.
Just for a laugh it includes a new housing commitment – “We will make active ageing the norm rather than the exception, for example by building more Lifetime Homes…” (section 11, para e).
As the government doesn’t currently record the number of Lifetime Homes in stock or the rate at which they’re built this is a somewhat woolly commitment. No doubt it was fully cleared with the Housing Minister before being announced – ust like Iain Duncan Smith’s occasional announcements about relocating millions of northerners or George Osbourne’s Housing Benefit pronouncements.
